On Saturday, January 5th, the Hands Along The Water - Venice group held a cleanup at the South Jetty and beach. Members spent two hours picking up trash and discussing ways to help protect our water. SCOOP news was on-site and interviewed our Director: https://www.thescoopradioshow.com/hands-along-the-water-beach-cleanup-interview/
Buckets of trash were gathered and the most frequently found items were plastic and cigarette butts. Fishing line, aluminum cans, and styrofoam were also in the mix. Members even found a broken fishing pole that had been thrown on the ground and an aluminum can that was left less than ten feet from a trash can.
